  • Population: 2.5 million
  • Women literary rate: 1-5%
  • 90% of women are abused, beaten and seriously injured.
  • Every 28 minutes an Afghan woman dies while giving birth. 452 women a  year in Kandahar & 672 in Helmand.
  • Women are forbidden to see male physicians.
  • Many pregnant women receive little or no prenatal healthcare.
  • Average mortality age is 42 years old.
